The auction series at Christie’s Geneva made a new record with a total of $110,189,044 from a series of auctions.
From the three of the auctions at Christie’s Geneva, the first was the “Jewels of Hope: The Collection of Mrs. Lily Safra”. This auction exhibited some magnificent and rare jewels of the Brazilian socialite and billionaire Lily Safra. The collection was sold at a record $38 million which was more than 100% by value. It had surpassed the pre-sale estimates and also made a world record.The cushion cut Burmese ruby and diamond ring from Safra’s collection was sold at $6.7 million. The ruby in the ring was famously known as “The Hope Ruby’ made a world record of grossing highest price for a ruby sold at an auction.
All the proceeds from “Jewels of Hope” would go to 32 different charitable institutions Lily Safra is supporting.
Another auction titled “Magnificent Jewels” in the series sold an Indian emerald sarpech, the Murat Tiara, the pearl and diamond tiara and a yellow diamond brooch at Christie’s with the world famous Beau Sancy diamond sold at Sotheby’s Geneva.
Also a group of 18 jewels by designer JAR was auctioned at an extraordinary $11.4 million which is also a record as the collection was the largest single-owner collection auctioned ever in history and it was also sold 100% by value and by lot.
